Microsoft introduced new Snapdragon X2 Plus versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop.

Microsoft is refreshing two Surface designs with Snapdragon X2 Plus: a 12-inch Pro that switches between tablet and laptop use, and a 13-inch Laptop built around a full-size keyboard and touchpad. The company presents both as portable PCs for work across the day.

Across comparisons with earlier Surface generations, Microsoft claims Office productivity workloads run up to 17% faster, battery performance is up to 18% more efficient, graphics are more than 60% faster and local AI inferencing is up to 95% faster on the NPU. The post describes these as peak numbers.

The Pro 12-inch adds Microsoft Ink Canvas, an AI pen tool for sketching, annotation, image creation and text summaries. Microsoft says the app will come preinstalled on the new Pro and will reach other supported Surface and Windows devices through the Microsoft Store on October 13.

Microsoft lists a 25% brighter, 500-nit PixelSense touchscreen for the 12-inch Pro, which starts at $1149.99; availability begins October 13 in select markets. For the 13-inch Laptop, the company cites a 25% brighter, 500-nit screen, 22.5 hours of battery life and a $1,199 starting price, with availability also beginning October 13 in select markets.
